Praise for Free Home Repair Program
Maxine, a homeowner in her 70’s has nothing but praise for a local home repair specialist who was “very efficient, courteous and conscientious...a credit to your center. He not only fixed my window, he
installed safety bars in the bathroom …he installed smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide alarm, he caulked around the bathtub and removed my shower doors so I could clean them. I am grateful for all he
did.”
Other homeowners agree. Mary Jo says, “Mr. Rico Reyes is a wonderful person. He worked so hard.” Betty did not recall his name but says, “he was most helpful and even stopped by another time
to see if the bars were really useful.”
We are all faced with an added burden of soaring energy costs. San Mateo County already leads the country in high housing costs. Working people, as well as those on fixed incomes, especially seniors who in
the past have been able to maintain the upkeep of their homes, now struggle to make needed repairs. Yet there is help available.
North Peninsula Neighborhood Services Center (NPNSC) offers a free program to assist low-income homeowners. NPNSC is a licensed contractor with twenty-five years experience in helping thousands of
low-income homeowners in San Mateo County with repairs that they were physically or financially unable to complete. NPNSC staff is bilingual, courteous and experienced.
Through this program, families at poverty level, very low and lower incomes will receive home repairs that, if left undone, could adversely affect their health, safety and quality of life.
Margaret, another homeowner raves about the program, “Your services do wonderful work for people like myself. I can’t express completely how pleased and happy your helping hand has helped me.
Thank you.”
Many services are offered through the House Helpers program--door repair or replacement, including screen doors and locks; window repair or glass replacement including screen windows and locks; plumbing repair or
fixture replacement; floor and wall repair; fences and gate repair; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; grab bars and ramps; weatherization measures for conserving energy, work on mobile homes, and other minor
repairs. Cosmetic work, Appliance Replacement and painting are not covered by the program.
North Peninsula Neighborhood Services Center (California General Contractors License Number 629360) is dedicated to making living conditions safe and comfortable for residents of San Mateo County. For more
